“Your Grace, she did it. It was all her idea,” replied Alister as the maid screamed, “He’s a liar!” King Camden had penetrated her mind; it showed that she had been implicated and that had been enough for the king.
“Take her away, she’ll be imprisoned,” said King Camden, who hadn’t thought twice about sentencing her for stealing and didn’t want to have any further discussions about it either. ‘“I hear you are the Great White Thief. I asked for you weeks ago and you denied me your presence. A man who isn’t guilty has nothing to hide. Why flee?” asked King Camden as he tried once more to penetrate his mind, but nothing had been revealed.
“Your Grace, I’m a free man. I never stole more than what I needed for survival. This is something you filthy highborns will never know,” replied Alister, with much conviction, and the crowd grew angry at Alister’s remark.
“Highborns are people with royal blood. Surely you must know that even highborns work for all they’ve got. You have a misconception and you are but a fool. Working hard will get you places. Stealing will get your hands cut off and even imprisoned,” said King Camden, who gave the young man a lesson, but it had been a lesson he hadn’t cared to hear or acknowledge.

"This was an interesting fantasy tale that has captured my imagination from the very start. I liked its historical setting and the characters, especially Adira, were well envisioned and Camden was one of my favorites as well. The dialogue is brilliant and I liked how the storyline has kept the suspense building up until the end. I definitely found much to love in this one, and I found myself immersed in its historical world with ease. Two thumbs up."

"Medieval times were far from glorious. I admire a book that can display its ugly truths pertaining to the era and then add beauty, life, intrigue ( plenty of it too ) passion, loyalty, and everything under the sun. This author has talent and it's evident in the art of her writing, story telling, and her brilliant "male inspired" battle scenes and warfare knowledge held by a woman's hand ... , that right there is quite remarkable. A block buster!"
